Zip Code Visualizer.

Filed under: General — Jeremiah @ 10:04 pm

Just saw this on metafilter. It’s pretty nifty:

Zip code Visualizer
It’s a java applet that shows a map of the United States with a point of light for every zip code. As you type your zip code it turns off the lights that you’re excluding, allowing you to visualize how the zip codes narrow to a specific location.

I’m Back!

Got my new cpu fan and got it installed.
I’m back up and running and 10 degrees cooler than I was before all this happened.

I got a thermaltake volcano 7+ with a copper heat sink and some arctic silver paste.
it has a 3-way speed selector, and I’m running cooler on low than I was with my old stock fan.
So I’m pretty pleased with the outcome. Even if it did cost me $35 shipped.

BTW: if you need computer parts, Newegg.com is the place to get them.

Now that I’m back online, maybe these withdrawal tremors will stop. ;-)

Computer on the Fritz

Filed under: General — Jeremiah @ 7:39 am

My cpu fan has stopped working.
This means that my computer overheats and shuts itself down after about 10 min.
I’ve ordered a new one, but it won’t be here till next week. (if I’m lucky)
Right now I have a case fan wedged in beside the processor blowing across it.
thats giving me a little more time, but it’s still flaky.

So I might be a little hard to reach by e-mail between now and then!

Just in case I can’t say it later… Happy Holidays!
